Physical Chemistry emphasis

  • At least three of the following four courses:
    • Quantum Chemistry (CHEM 212)
    • Statistical Thermodynamics (CHEM 214) or Statistical Mechanics (PHYS 212)
    • Chemical Kinetics (CHEM 215)
    • Molecular Spectroscopy (CHEM 231)
  • One graduate course elective (numbered 2xx and at least 3 units) as approved by the Educational Policy Committee

Organic Chemistry emphasis

  • Reaction Mechanisms (CHEM 201)

Chemical Biology emphasis

  • Bioorganic Chemistry (CHEM 202)
  • Molecular Dynamics and Biomolecular Simulation (QSB 281)/Molecular Dynamics (CHEM 281) 
  • Graduate-level Biochemistry (QSB 202)
  • One graduate course elective (numbered 2xx and at least 3 units) as approved by the Educational Policy Committee
  • Four semesters of graduate seminar courses

Computational Chemistry emphasis

  • Quantum Chemistry (CHEM 212)
