Local Attractions

Founded in 1855 Merced County has housed a multitude of historical events. One such event was the establishment of Merced’s first County Courthouse built in 1875, which has now been turned into a historic museum. Do you want to support local businesses? Natural Attractions

Merced is known as the gateway to the Yosemite National Park where families and friends can find a plethora of activities to do. Discover the Central Valley and other recreational parks such as the Sequoia & Kings Canyon, Big Sur, and Lake Tahoe.

Transportation

Merced is in the heart of all the main attractions that California has to offer. Both San Francisco and in Monterey Bay, are just 2.5 hour drive from Merced and with Merced’s Regional Airport, you are a quick flight to any major city such as  Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Diego. The Amtrak is another affordable option to travel up and down the state of California. Don’t feel like driving to Yosemite? Check out the YARTS bus line, available on campus and throughout the county.
