Graduate Orientation Week (GROW) is a one-week period of activities and programs held at the beginning of each academic year to provide students with an opportunity to learn about UC Merced and the Merced Community as well as provide an opportunity to take care of important pre-enrollment tasks.
GROW will have specific events geared toward incoming Natural Sciences graduate students which include: TA training, Lab safety training, Linux training and specific graduate group events. Resources for incoming Natural Sciences graduate students who will be joining the Applied Mathematics (AMAT), Chemistry & Chemical Biology (CCB), Physics (PHYI) and Quantitative & Systems Biology (QSB) graduate groups will be provided.
All incoming Graduate Students are required to attend GROW which will be held:
Monday August 14th 2017 – Friday August 22nd 2017
The registration deadline for GROW is Friday July 28th 2017 at 12:00pm.

The schedule includes sessions that provide practical information concerning the resources of departments and programs, the graduate groups, the University and Merced, as well as social events that offer students a chance to make new friends and to build community. The activities listed in the orientation calendar are open to all new graduate students. Events are free, and all require advance registration.
